The nearest station is Axminster – on the Waterloo-Exeter St David’s line. Trains are hourly. On arrival at Axminster there is usually a bus to meet the train (the X51 or X53), but do check timetables. You may also want to book a cab from one of the local cab firms… we use Causley Cabs (01297 642011), Go Eco Cabs (01297 445444), and Lyme Regis Taxis (01297 442222).
Take the A3052 turn-off from the A35… and check out our parking page for details of what to do with the car while you’re here. At peak times you will need to book a space, or use the park-and-ride that is sign-posted on your way in to Lyme.
Lyme Regis is easily accessed by bus: the FirstBus X51 and X53 services connect to Lyme from Axminster railway station, Dorchester and Weymouth. Axminster station is about a 20 minute journey.
The nearest airports to Lyme Regis are Exeter (21 miles – closest but limited flights), Bournemouth (45 miles – more of a regional airport) and Bristol (50 miles – more options for international flights).
We list a few of the questions people most frequently ask us below, but feel free to contact Lyme Cottage about anything at all if you have questions we can help with.
We will make up your beds before your arrival and leave fresh towels in the bathroom, as well as beach towels in the cupboard for you in case you’re tempted for a dip!
Unfortunately we do not allow pets.
It’s sketchy! You may be able to make a call from the front deck or the upstairs bedroom, but otherwise you’ll need to go for a walk to make your calls! The WiFi coverage in the cottage is very good.
We won’t be able to give you an answer to this until a few days before your stay – but feel free to contact Lyme Cottage near the time or during your stay.
There are a few steps up from the lower garden level to the deck/ground floor level, and then a staircase up to the bedroom level. There are hand rails alongside all steps. Contact Lyme Cottage if you have specific mobility requirements you would like to discuss.
Check out our local guide pages for information on local events and ideas for what to do during your stay.
We have brought together our reviews from our own site and from the various booking platforms (mainly Airbnb and VRBO). Read them on the reviews page – and if this has inspired you to come and stay then you may want to consider booking directly with us, to avoid agency fees.
We regularly review both our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy to ensure that they are as fair and transparent as possible for guests.
